2022 Mentor of the Year

Prentice has been a part of the 100 Black Men of America organization since 2008 as a member of the 100 Black Men of North Metro Atlanta, Inc chapter which is celebrating 30 years of service this year. During his tenure with 100 Black Men of North Metro Atlanta, Inc. he has supported numerous activities and programs including Education, Health & Wellness, Economic Empowerment, and Mentoring initiatives. Currently, Prentice is a lead for one of the chapter’s primary mentoring locations and has collaborated with fellow mentors to enhance the curriculum. While navigating pandemic challenges this school year, his team was able to pivot from a successful virtual/hybrid delivery model to full in-person participation for the mentoring program while maintaining mentee engagement, participation, and safety. Prentice led the effort to establish a Toastmasters Gavel Club for his chapter as another resource for mentees to further develop their communication and leadership skills. This offering has been well received by mentees and parents. Additionally, Prentice served as a coach for the chapter’s AAHC team that won the 2021 AAHC Junior Division competition. The first AAHC championship for 100 Black Men of North Metro Atlanta, inc.

Professionally, Prentice is an Information Technology leader with 20+ years of experience in IT Delivery, Operations, Digital Experience, and Process Optimization. During his career, he has been fortunate to lead and manage global teams with resources located on 6 of the 7 continents. Serving companies in the financial services, technology, transportation, retail/restaurant, media, and healthcare industries. Prentice has been a proud Project Management Professional (PMP) for over a decade. This along with his senior management experience and growth mindset has facilitated several opportunities for him to lead and learn continuously across IT disciplines.

Prentice received his BS in Mathematics from Virginia Union University, Masters from Virginia Commonwealth University, and continuing education at George Washington University. He has been married to his lovely wife Therasa for 21 years and is the father of two wonderful sons, Noah and Elijah.
