Psychologist & Food Relationship Strategist

Ebony Butler, PhD is a Licensed Psychologist and Food Relationship Strategist who has made it her mission to help women of color heal and thrive in the areas of trauma, including racial trauma and recovering from food and body trauma experienced through diet culture. Dr. Ebony works alongside women to help them develop skills that increase their relationships with others, themselves, and their bodies. Aligning with her passion to break through barriers that make it difficult for Black people and other people of color to access quality mental health care, Dr. Ebony created My Therapy Cards®, the first-ever self-exploration card deck for Black women and other women of color. Since its launch in May 2020, Dr. Ebony has expanded the card deck to include a Teen Edition and Men's Edition. The expansion of this resource has made self-insight and discovery work more accessible and affordable!

Youth Workshop: Overcoming the Youth Mental Health Crisis in the Black Community (Middle School and (9th – 11th grade)

Diplomat 2

Overview: Mental Health is not only a concern for adults, but it is also impacting the lives of our youth. "Research shows that the Black community experiences similar rates of mental illness as other populations. But individuals in this community may be less likely to seek treatment. Up to 75% of mental health challenges emerge during adolescence, and according to the Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) curriculum, one in five teens has had a serious mental health disorder at some point in their life." During this workshop, panel experts will bring awareness to mental health so students can leave with valuable resources that will help create a positive change towards seeking help when needed.
