Chairman Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. African-American History Challenge

Alvin is a native and resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana where he is a Charter Member, Charter Board Member and Charter Secretary of the Metro Baton Rouge Chapter of 100 Black Men of America which was founded in 1993. He is the longest serving Board Member/Executive Officer of the Metro Baton Rouge Chapter in its history, having served in those capacities for 24 consecutive years. Mr. Cavalier currently works with the Collegiate 100 Chapter at Southern University. He has served on the National Committee of the African-American History Challenge along with founding chairman, the late Brace B. Godfrey, Jr. since the competition’s inception in 1995. He moderated the Junior Division competition during the preliminary rounds each year until 2010 when he was asked to Chair the event after the untimely passing of Mr. Godfrey. Having received his formal education at Southern University and Louisiana State University of Baton Rouge, Alvin is a retired Louisiana State Audit Manager and is currently self-employed in accounting, auditing, and income taxes. He is a member of a number of Social, Civic and Professional organizations including Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. where he serves as Area Director, Master Trainer and Louisiana Chief Dean and Fiscal Officer.
